Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity
Character Mapping as a service, and Mariel Pastor as its founder, wholeheartedly embrace anti-oppressive principles and practices with the aim of restoring wholeness and balance on all levels of human relationships. We commit to fostering a culture where every person feels valued, understood, and respected.
We seek storytellers from diverse backgrounds encompassing variations in race, class, age, size, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, and physical abilities and neurotypes. Our commitment to inclusion stems not only from a desire to counter the denial of opportunities commonly faced by marginalized individuals and communities, but also from the knowledge that engaging with storytellers from a variety of backgrounds enriches our lives and fosters more vibrant, globally representative stories.
We recognize that establishing a culture that promotes open-mindedness, compassion, and inclusivity requires a commitment from each of us to our personal growth—internally and relationally. To support this effort, we are dedicated to ongoing education about equity, inclusivity, and the various forms of systemic oppression with the recognition that doing so will only enhance the evolution of Character Mapping.
